Monica,

Looks FABULOUS! Thanks so much.

One minor change: I spoke with Alice last night, and the logistics of picking us up at Grand Central won't work out.
The limos will now pick us up at Rock Plaza after the Today Show. We will, however, be parading the Westies from Grand Central to the Plaza and strutting our stuff. We arrive at Grand Central at 7:25 a.m. from Tarrytown. We will head up Vanderbilt Ave working our way toward the Plaza and making a grand entrance to the show.

Come join the parade of Westies!

Info from the Shearwater Sailboat Folks:

  • Boarding: We board 5 min prior to departure and ask that you arrive at the dock 15 min before your sail.
  • What to wear: We ask that passengers wear only soft soled shoes such as sneakers, deck shoes, flip-flops or sandals. Heels and boots can scuff the deck. Bare feet are also fine. The temperature can be cooler out on the water so dress accordingly.
  • Directions: Please click on the following link for detailed directions to the boat:

About the Shearwater (from the Shearwater web site)
Join us aboard SHEARWATER for the experience of a lifetime. We offer daily public sails as well as private charters in New York's historic harbor.

SHEARWATER is much more than just 82 feet of Georgia Pine, her exterior features flawlessly maintained brightwork, magnificent large polished brass portholes and chrome trim. Her large teak decks offer extensive seating and relaxing areas.

The interior is reminiscent of a bygone era, finely finished in exotic hardwoods. A spiral staircase leads down to the mahogany paneled passageway, past staterooms beautifully decorated with period furnishings and into the elegant salon with it's leaded glass cabinets, fireplace, traditional butterfly hatches and large gimbaled table. The exquisite marble finished head is close at hand for your convenience. All of this contributes to an ambiance that will satisfy your most discriminating expectations.

Whether that special occasion you are planning is business or pleasure, SHEARWATER will create a positive, elegant atmosphere that only a 1920's era yacht can deliver. As she heels over, puts her shoulder into the breeze and the wake fans out astern, you will cherish the moment and remember it forever.

How Far Is It From Here to There?

  • Grand Central Station to Today Show (1.02 miles)
  • Today Show to Fishbridge Garden Park (5.7 miles)
  • Fishbridge Garden Park to Shearwater Sailboat (1.9 miles)
  • Shearwater Sailboat to Milkshake Lounge (6 miles)
  • Milshake Lounge to Grand Central Station (.7 miles)

Total mileage: 15.32 miles

Here is some interesting city trivia regarding this 15.32 miles:
  • What this means to a driver of a car--4 parking spots must be found or 4 parking garages must be paid for. Total cost: $80
  • What this means to someone taking a cab--5 cabs need be taken. Total cost: $50 ($2.50 initial cab fare + .40 per unit (1/5 mi.)

Gas $4.50 a gallon? Don't expect any sympathy on this end. Hell, New Yorkers have been paying $50 a gallon for years now!!!
