The Peekskill Arts Council presents: Peekskill Open Studios 2008
Take Metro-North from Grand Central Station and Get Off in Peekskill, a town on the Hudson River. Tour artist's studios ($5 taxi fare to town), hang out at the riverside Park (near the train station). Make an evening, a day or a night out-of-town of it.
Although, this is not a dog oriented event, I have gone twice now with my dogs and they were welcome every where.
The Peekskill Motel is dog-friendly. Outside dining is available.
About the Peekskill Arts Council (from their web site) :
The Peekskill Arts Council is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization founded in 1995. After the successful implementation of the artist district project which brought professional artists to live and work in Peekskill, it became clear that a formal entity was needed to pursue the initiation of arts related projects to serve the Peekskill community. The resource of professional artists in the city encouraged and nurtured many new exciting community arts and cultural projects.
The Peekskill Arts Council's mission is to educate the general publicabout the arts and serve as community resource in Peekskill for the artists and arts community. That mission is fulfilled by developing artistic events and installations, establishing public gallery space, strengthening arts in education in the local schools, promoting and disseminating information on the arts and supporting the needs of artist in the community.
Peekskill train station provides commuter service to New York City, 41 miles (66 Km) away via Metro-North Railroad. The Bear Mountain Bridge, five miles to the northwest, gives road access to Bear Mountain State Park across the Hudson River, and to the United States Military Academy at West Point via US 6 and US 202. The Croton Expressway portion of US 9 ends here. NY 9A and NY 35 also run through the city.
